Hernando Chindoy Chindoy and Ana Cristina Rodríguez Muñoz are two Inga community leaders from the Piedemonte Andino-Amazónico region in Colombia. They will present the process “Ëconêêrã – Wuasikamas,” a decolonial education initiative that seeks to imagine new ways of thinking and acting to foster global healing and care. This conversation will explore an ecological approach to education, centered on listening, positionality, and interdisciplinary engagement.

Three discussants will offer reflections from different fields: Dr. Mieke Lopez Cardoso (GPIO), Dorine van Meel (independent artist), and Amanda Mokoena (Anthropology). Together, we will reflect on how education can act as a transformative tool for cultivating care and collective well-being—beyond dominant paradigms.

About the speakers

Ana Cristina Rodríguez Muñoz
MS. in Marketing, Universidad de Nariño; Business Administrator, Universidad Cesmag; Financial Administration Technologist, Universidad Cesmag.

She has 15 years of experience as a coordinator of commercial work groups in companies and organizations in the health sector in southern Colombia (Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Nariño, and Putumayo). For 6 years, she has coordinated social projects with indigenous communities in the departments of Caquetá, Cauca, Putumayo, and Nariño through the Sumakausai Colombia Foundation. For 1 year, she has served as a Cultural and Pedagogical Manager at the International Wuasikamas Foundation, Las Américas region.

She identifies herself as a "Pollinating Mother of Biocultural Peace," weaving words to preserve the ancestral knowledge of women in indigenous communities.
She is a "Sower of Seeds" for the safeguarding and recognition of women's roles.
She promotes the visibility, protection, and respect of ancestral knowledge and spiritualities of indigenous peoples.

Hernando Chindoy Chindoy

He has over 20 years of experience working with and supporting indigenous peoples in Colombia, demonstrating excellent skills in managing, directing, and coordinating social, economic, and environmental projects.

Hernando has been invited as a speaker by various academic, artistic, and cultural institutions across the Americas and Europe.

He is the founder of the WUASIKAMAS - Guardians of the Earth initiative and the ËCONEÊRÃ International Pluriversity, aimed at promoting, developing, and strengthening alternative political and spiritual responses to foster recognition and dialogue in pursuit of Biocultural Peace and the comprehensive safeguarding of life. These initiatives also seek to end, prevent, and address poverty, hunger, and discrimination.

Among his various national and international recognitions are:

  • Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of the Arts London for his contributions to the field of climate studies/indigenous knowledge (2023).
  • Marianne Initiative Human Rights Award 2025, awarded by the French Republic.
